Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your behavioral health provider and support. We are committed to providing you quality professional services.

People come to counseling because they want something to be different in their lives. They may want to change their personal or family situation, solve a particular problem, or simply bring a healthier balance to their lives. The counseling process can be fun and exciting. It can also, at times, be very challenging, difficult, and even painful. However, the goal will always be to bring about positive change.

Genesis is staffed with professional counselors, peer supports, and qualified professionals with expertise in mental health, substance abuse, and family advocacy. We provide counseling to individuals, couples, and families. We serve people experiencing a variety of problems and disorders. Our services include counseling individuals and groups who are experiencing anxiety, depression, addictions, stressful life changes, family concerns, grief and loss, and relational conflicts. We also work with individuals who have experienced trauma and struggle with resulting self-image issues and chronic concerns. We work with children utilizing play therapy and traditional talk therapy depending on their cognitive and developmental level.

Genesis works primarily from a Person-Centered perspective. When clinically indicated we will address concerns utilizing additional perspectives of: Attachment, Family Systems, Reality, Choice, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Solution-Focused Theories. When determining a client’s clinical diagnosis, we refer to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Volume 5, Text Revised (DSM-IV-TR). This diagnosis becomes part of your record.

We are committed to providing therapy that respects your right to self-determination. We will seek to understand the concerns from your perspective to help you find effective change. We will employ the particular approach/approaches we believe will be the most effective in attaining the goals you have established for our work. Together we will partners to (1) set realistic goals, (2) develop a clear plan for helping you reach your goals, and (3) work with you to help you meet those goals. Periodically, we will evaluate our progress and, if necessary, redesign our treatment plan, goals and methods.
